The world population problem is not at all as easy as it appears. This year around, I’d like to take a short break from the normal issues to remind you about the significance of this day.
World Population Day is an annual event that increases understanding of the global population problems and concentrates on helping family planning to conserve natural resources. It’s essential to note that we are not speaking about “population control” here, but rather an approach that aims at defining our future numbers (most people currently make more space than they will require in their lifetimes).

It’s also worth noting that World Population Day was created by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 45/216 adopted in December 1990 and marked in July 1990, so it is not necessarily the same as Earth Day (which was launched in 1970) or National Family Planning Awareness Week (which began a few years later). While these days are less attentive to population problems, there has been considerable progress made since then: over 20 million women have entered into family planning worldwide. This number has increased from 6 million in 1990; over 2 billion ladies now use modern contraception; around 50 million females have access to improved sanitation, and 2.2 billion couples use modern contraceptives each year.
In addition, World Population Day spotlights some of the major challenges facing our planets – such as weather change – and how we can all perform together for a more profitable future for our kids and grandchildren.

What is World Population Day?
World Population Day is a global event held on July the 11th to highlight the world’s population, advocate for family planning, and increase awareness about problems such as reproductive health and gender equality. World Population Day is held every year to coincide with the start of the World Family Planning & Reproductive Health Conference (WPRH).
UNFPA brings together over 90 countries, leading development organizations, and global scientific communities to discuss family planning. The conference focuses on helping women’s rights and empowering women in achieving development goals.

What is a Theme of World Population Day
The theme for this year’s celebration is “World Population Day 2022 Theme: “A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all- Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all”. With a special focus on how family planning can make a difference in achieving endurable global development goals such as decreasing child mortality and enhancing mother health in developing nations.
Why is World Population Day Important?
World Population Day is a yearly event in which the United Nations celebrates the lives of people. This year’s theme is called “A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all- Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all” and it will take place on July 11, 2022. The goal is to increase global food safety and improve nutrition among children while encouraging a more gender-balanced workforce.

The program will be carried out in three phases:
– Phase 0 – 2018-2019: The priority will be on poverty relief and gender equality, with a particular focus on decreasing extreme poverty and providing entry to food for all. Women will be prominent in this phase as they are disproportionately impacted by hunger, particularly in countries where females are not empowered enough or where there are no rights for females, or where ladies have limited power within organizations or families.
– Phase 1 – 2020-2021: The priority has been moved from managing extreme poverty and hunger to decreasing malnutrition among children and improving nutrition outcomes for children across all territories of the world (particularly sub-Saharan Africa). This phase strives to reach considerable progress towards its Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) while promoting gender equality through sustainable financial growth options, improved health systems, and improved education results across populations.

– Phase 2 – 2022-2023: The priority will now move to conduct SDD goals such as sustainable global food supply chains, improved nutrition among children, and improving maternal health outcomes. It will also aim at improving women’s empowerment by handling problems such as female labor force participation rates (which remain low), gender imbalance in decision-making methods (particularly in political affairs), and roughness against females, mostly by male partners (especially husbands). This phase strives at making meaningful progress toward SDD goals such as stopping extreme poverty by 2030 while boosting economic growth options for all sectors of the community through macroeconomic strength, enhanced food safety, improved female labor force participation rates as well as improved schooling outcomes among subpopulations such as children.

7.96 Billion (2022)
The current world population is 7.96 billion as of July 2022 according to the most current United Nations counts elaborated by Worldometer. The term “World Population” directs to the human population (the total number of humans now living) of the world.
And this is what you’ve all been waiting for: World Population Day. The point that it’s still a day away is all the more logical to celebrate it!
WPD: World Population Day is an international event held each year on July 11 that is committed to raising awareness about the number of people who will be alive in 2022. The reason why it has such a big effect on the lives of individuals all around the world is that it is not just about the force of numbers, but about universal understanding and disclosure of the problem.
