Konkani Pet and Sahitya Akademi winner Sanjiv Verenkar has sadly passed away at the age of 64. Members were devastated to learn that this famous and talented poet had left this world to leave his community and family behind. According to sources, Sanjiv Verenkar died while receiving treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bombolim. Unfortunately, he breathed his last on Friday, March 17, 2023. He was a well-known poet in his community and gained great respect and love from his followers all over India. Let’s see what was the reason for his sudden death and how he died.

Since Sanjiv Verenkar’s news was confirmed, his followers and others have paid tribute to him and expressed their deep condolences to those who are going through a difficult time due to the loss of a loved one. Sanjiv Verenkar died?

Sanjiv Verenkar has received the Sahitya Akademi Award in Konkani 2021 for his collection of poems “Raktachandan”. The journalist is survived by his wife and two daughters. He likes to describe himself as a “society poet” and is the author of 17 books, nine of which are collections of poetry. At the same time, some of his poems were translated into Konkani by Prakash Thali and published in the collection “Country Night”.

“Saddened to learn of the passing of senior journalist and Sahitya Akademi laureate Sanjeev Verekar. My deepest condolences to the family,” said Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. When Verenkar won Sahitya Akademi, he said, “The uneasiness in society is inadvertently reflected in my poetry, so I think poetry is some kind of analgesic ointment that when applied can relieve a person’s pain and he feels good.” In In this day and age, people suffer more from mental illness; I think poetry is the antidote to it”.

With this, Verenkar also won Vimala Pai Puraskar for “Aswath Surya” Vishwa Konkani Kavitra Kruti Puraskar, TMA Dr. Pai Foundation Award for “Sanj Sulus”, All India Radio Puraskar for “Vastu Purushacho Asth Zatana”, As well as winning Konkani Bhasha Mandal Puraskar Bhavjumbar” and “Mumbai” with “Vastu Purushacho Asth Zatana”.
