Mary Schmutzler Death Reason?

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ruth Schmutzler, former editor of the Deerfield Independent, at the age of 74. On Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, the news of her passing quickly spread across social media platforms, leaving her loved ones in shock and distress. Many are now wondering what the cause of her death was.

Mary Ruth Schmutzler was born on March 14, 1949 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Orvin and Ileen Evrard. Mary Ruth was a National Merit finalist, a Badger Girls State Leadership Conference representative, and graduated with honors from Oconto Falls High School. She then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. In 1972, Mary Ruth was appointed editor of the Deerfield Independent, and quickly made a name for herself as an amazing and kind woman.

In 1974, Mary Ruth and her husband Dean Schmutzler of Beaverdam, Wisconsin moved to Green Bay. There, Mary Ruth became news editor for The Spirit, the Catholic diocesan newspaper. The couple also worked together to publish the Northeast Wisconsin edition of Builder/Architect magazine. Mary Ruth is survived by her husband and two daughters, Lynn and Tracy.

Though the exact cause of her death is unknown, Mary Ruth had been battling a long-term illness prior to her passing.
