Bethlyn Hand, former senior vice president of advertising and administration for the Motion Picture Association of America, has died at the age of 85. Yes, there is no more beloved Bethlyn Hand between us. Sadly, she has passed away, leaving her family and colleagues devastated. Bethlyn Hand reportedly breathed her last on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Shortly after Jack Valenti began her 37-year career as MPA President in 1966, she joined the Hollywood trade organization. It is difficult to learn that Bethlyn Hand lost her life after a long battle with the disease.
Well, his death was announced on February 15, 2023 through multiple posts on social media. A post by James Gibbons read: “Rest in peace… my dear friend Bethlyn Hand passed away this morning. She was a proud Texan , dog lover, movie buff, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and a one-of-a-kind caring human being. I can’t believe such a life force has left us. Safe travels, love Ms. B very much”. Since news of her death was confirmed on social media, colleagues and loved ones have expressed their condolences to her and extended condolences to her family for the loss of a loved one.
How did Bethlyn Hand die?
Beslyn Hand has died from her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, according to an official update. Unfortunately, she can no longer fight this and loses the fight. Hand works with the MPAA in a role that includes authorizing marketing campaigns that comply with its ratings program rules; a role that often requires studio executives and producers to meet with her and offer their views. The Hollywood Reporter named Hand one of the most powerful women in Hollywood in the 1990s.
Hande was born on January 30, 1938. She grew up in Houston, Texas, and went on to study journalism at the University of Texas. She moved to Washington, DC in 1966 to work with Valenti. She moved to Los Angeles in 1975 to lead the MPAA’s advertising department. In addition to the MPAA, Hand serves on the Public Relations Coordinating Committee, which handles media inquiries during the Academy Awards.
In addition to her three nieces Bridget Taylor, Susan Hand and Catherine Hand, Hand is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Lloyd and Ann Hand, five great-grandnieces and four great-great-nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered by those she loved. #RIPBethlynHand
